I have worked in the trusts and estates field since 1977, as both a trust banker and a trusts and estates attorney. My current practice handles all aspects of estate planning but focuses on planning for persons with special needs. I am a member of The Special Needs Alliance, a national group of attorneys serving the legal needs of persons with disabilities, and a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel.
I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia, and my law degree from the Fordham University School of Law. I am admitted to practice in Virginia, the District of Columbia, and New York.
As a native of Northern Virginia, I am dedicated to serving the Northern Virginia community. I am an active volunteer with The Arc of Northern Virginia and serve as pro bono counsel for the pooled special needs trust sponsored by that organization. Previously, I served on the Board of Directors of Capital Hospice, Governing Board of the Trusts and Estates Section of the Virginia State Bar, and I am a past president of both the Northern Virginia Estate Planning Council and the Northern Virginia chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
I have been honored by Virginia Lawyers Weekly as a “Leader in the Law” and have also been consistently recognized in the Washingtonian Top Lawyers listing as well as Super Lawyers and America’s Best Lawyers.
I was a partner at Thompson Wildhack, plc from 2009 to 2022. As my first step toward retirement, I am now a solo practitioner. Elizabeth Wildhack has formed a new firm with Lamya Moosa and Courtney McCarthy, known as MWM Legal Group. I intend to continue sharing space with MWM and contribute to their knowledge of special needs planning.
